In the 1980s, the USA sends a time capsule with human cultural artefacts into space in order to send a message of peace. Unfortunately, this message is mistaken as a declaration of war, because in some of the video games, aliens are being hunted. There’s an invasion in which aliens hunt human beings designed as classic video game figures such as Donkey Kong or Pacman. The US President (Kevin James) asks his old buddy and arcade champion Sam Brenner (Adam Sandler) to help him. Brenner leads off the fight together with further old-school arcade gamers.
